Steel, Braised Brass, Wax (2014)

This work reflects a balance between the permanent and the ephemeral. The rigidity given by the material is contrasted by the dynamic line quality and active shadows created by the small, delicate candle. The encasing form engulfs the incandescence while simultaneously protecting it, giving it a shrine-like intimacy. The light and shadow change as the candle melts away, reminding us of the constant change that occurs due to the laws of thermodynamics.
