This piece is recapturing the experience of entering a public bathroom, including the observation of layers of graffiti left behind by anonymous persons in the stalls or other public domains. Every time one opens this box, sand falls inside – evidence that someone has interacted with it. The glass in front serves as a timeline, just as the layers of graffiti mark the history and character of a place and the people that have been there. The box is also etched with “graffiti” written by various people.
